Meer dan 70.000 koppels trouwen per jaar in Nederland. Een traditioneel huwelijk met een witte jurk en man in pak, is nog steeds het populairst. Maar er zijn wel degelijk moderne trends te ontdekken. Zo worden de huwelijksbedankjes steeds origineler.
De gepersonaliseerde huwelijksbedankjes zijn tegenwoordig gemakkelijk via internet te bestellen. Zo verkoopt het bedrijf Locomix kleine gouden en bronzen Boeddha’s met bedankkaartjes eraan. “We hebben er al meer dan 45.000 van verkocht”, vertelt eigenaar Martijn Feenstra trots. “We zijn een stuk goedkoper, dan onze concurrent. Maar dan nog waren ook wij verbaasd over het succes van deze geluksbrengers.” Zijn bedrijf Locomix verkoopt de Boeddha’s overigens ook in zogenaamde Kugels. Dit zijn ophangbare doorzichtige bollen.
Bedankje via internet
Waar een koppel vroeger naar een drukker ging, voor een bedankkaartje of bij een specialist een huwelijksbedankje kocht, zoekt de moderne aanstaande online naar de ideale bedankjes. “Wij krijgen bijna al onze opdrachten via de website. Klanten kunnen de kaartjes helemaal zelf ontwerpen, met een eigen tekst, foto en design”, aldus Feentra.
Dat de geluksboeddha’s zo populair zijn, weet Feenstra wel te verklaren: “Een huwelijk vier je met je meest dierbare om je heen. Die wens je alle geluk van de wereld toe. Dus een bedankje in de vorm van een boeddha is dan een heel mooi geschenk.”

Het meest kansloze idee van 2013 is reeds een feit. Vanaf vandaag liggen er in 900 winkels, groene polsbandjes tegen pesten in de schappen. En dat terwijl Southpark dit jaar een aflevering tegen polsbandjes maakte.
Iedere weldenkende puber zal het dus wel uit zijn hoofd laten om zo’n plastic kankerverwekkend bandje om zijn of haar pols te smeden. Tenzij je de loser bent in de klas, die toch al gepest werd en dus niet op de hoogte is van de laatste trends. Eenzaam zit je daar in een hoekje, hopend dat het bandje magische powers heeft en je beschermt tegen die hyperactieve ADHD-pestkoppen in je klas.
Maar helaas werkt het waarschijnlijk tegenovergesteld en zien ze meteen dat jij die eenzame koter bent, die bang is gepest te worden. Een extra reden voor eikeltjes om juist opmerkingen naar je kop te slingeren.
Bedenkers van het bandje, Marije Kat (29) en Lindy Robles (25), werden zelf ooit gepest. Ze hopen dat het onderwerp bespreekbaar wordt en dat is natuurlijk een goed idee. Maar niet door middel van een polsbandje, waardoor een kind nog meer wordt afgezonderd. Je kunt dan net zo goed meteen een ster op het kind plakken. En ook de pesters zelf zullen dit niet gaan dragen, want het is totaal niet ‘swag’.
De enige oplossing voor iemand die gekweld wordt, is ballen kweken en ervoor zorgen, dat je niet op je ziel getrapt wordt zodra iemand je een brillenmans, nerd of loser noemt. Gebruik je talenten, maak je school zo snel mogelijk af en dan komt het na je 18de allemaal wel in orde, als de pest-hormonen van die pubers in je klas zijn uitgewerkt en ze zich aan de maatschappij gaan aanpassen.
Tot die tijd kun je hopen op beterschap, maar draag in géén geval dat groene bandje!

How do you ensure that your first DJ NRJ awards at the Monaco International Clubbing Show (MICS) gets some extra attention? Simple, you pull open a can of Russian models, throws two paratroopers from 900 meters out of a helicopter and nominate only international names. And it worked! There was lots of press during the opening of the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco.
Awards for the Dutch
Tonight the awards for best DJ will be given away and probably some Dutch DJ’s will win.
For the Best International DJ Award are Tiësto, Afrojack (also known for dating Paris Hilton in the past) and Armin van Buuren nominated. The other nominees are the Swedish Azwell and AVICII, Canadian Deadmeu5 and Red Foo of LMFAO.
Newcomers
For International Breakthrough Act of the year the Dutch will certainly drag a prize home. No less than four Dutch are nominated: Nicky Romero, Hardwell, Laidback Luke and Chuckie.
Of course one of them will win, because opponents are Dubsteb (vomit) dj Skrillex, the Austrians Global Deejays (Go skiing) and the Australian sisters Nervo, which of course never heard of anyone on this side of the world.
What is the purpose of the MICS is not entirely clear, it seems primarily a party for and by DJs. This week Martin Solveig, Bob Sinclair, Pharrel Williams and Hardwell will give away shows in the most luxurious clubs in Monaco.

Dutch designer Marga Weimans is known for her crazy shoes and daring designs. She has debuted this year at the Amsterdam Fashion Week and is even nominated for a Dutch Fashion Award.
We see great things for Weimans, who could easely dress Lady Gaga, Madonna or Nicki Minaj (as soon as she has found her fashionfeeling again). So artist, don’t hesitate and give this great Dutch designer a chance.

Dena Lyons is an artist you won’t forget easily. Her paintings are as expressive as the American beauty can be herself in the right audiance.
She opened her art exhibiton this month at cafe Quai des Artistes the harbour of Monaco. The paintings are about trees, but even more about feelings. The colours will really get to you when standing in front of the masterpieces.
Before this art project, Dena Lyons was working on portraits, what are quite interesting as well. You can see she got really inspired by the France and Monaco.
The exhibition will travel to America in october and we advice you to see it. She can become the next big thing!

Psy is as crazy as LMFAO
Psy is a singer from Korea (guess wich one of the two) who has been popular since 2001. His real name is Park Jae Sang and he is known for his exciting and theatric stage performances. The guy has won every imaginary award you can get in Korea. You can even say he is the Korean version of LMFAO, dressing crazy, having crazy lyrics, but still making very good music to dance on.
His new hit Gangnam Style (it`s gone viral, already watched more then 27 million times on youtube) is so catchy that it even has a chance to get popular in Europe and America. Psy dances like an horserider and it`s really funny, can`t wait to see people dance like this in the clubs! We hope so, finally some poppy influence from the far East!!

Before, in the old days, men would watch women’s tennis or hockey with the argument they ‘liked the sport’. But now there’s Beach Volleyball on the Olympics. No more excuses about liking the sport, everybody knows why you’re watching!
Tonight at 6pm London time China plays against USA. But the real game men are waiting for is at 9 pm, when Brasilian beachbabes will kick the hell out of America. Watch out though when you go to the official page of the Olympics, the women look like they just came out of prison!
